Addiction Counseling for All Forms of Addiction
Reclaim your life with compassion, clarity, and laern tools for healing.
Addiction isn’t just about substance, it’s about pain, coping, and disconnection. Whether you or a loved one are struggling with drugs, alcohol, pornography, compulsive sexual behavior, online gaming, social media, shopping, or other patterns that feel out of control, you are not alone and there is a path forward.
Using a powerful integration of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based techniques, I help clients uncover the emotional roots of addiction, develop healthier coping strategies, plan for reduction and or sobriety, and reconnect with a sense of purpose and inner peace.
Understanding Addiction
Addiction is not a moral failing. It’s a protective strategy, a part of you trying to help, avoid, soothe, or distract from deeper pain. In therapy, we get curious, compassionate but not judgmental. We explore:
- What parts of you are using the addiction to cope?
- What exiled feelings (shame, loneliness, trauma) are being avoided?
- What does healing look like—beyond white-knuckled willpower?
Whether it’s substances, screens, sex, or compulsive behaviors, these are often symptoms of internal conflict, unmet needs, or trauma. Therapy is where we untangle that—together.
My Approach: IFS + CBT + Mindfulness
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
- Helps identify the parts of you caught in addictive cycles (like the “numbing” part or “inner critic”)
- Builds a compassionate relationship with your internal world
- Heals the underlying pain or trauma fueling the addictive behavior
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Offers practical tools for identifying triggers, patterns, changing thoughts, and shifting behavior
- Helps develop new, adaptive patterns around urges and relapse prevention
- Supports self-efficacy and long-term addiction management skills
Mindfulness-Based Interventions
- Teach you to pause and respond rather than react to cravings or emotions
- Increase awareness of body cues and emotional states
- Ground you in the present moment, reducing impulsivity and shame spirals
